- Stock 1973 Mustang Convertible with a 351C 2v and C6
Modified 1970 Mach 1 M-Code with a 351C 4v Manual
From the pictures, I can see the frame mounts are for a 73 hardtop/fastback small block (302/351C) and the motor mounts are for a 71-72 small block (302/251C). The 73 frame mounts are shorter and sloped on the side to accommodate the tall and wider 73 captive motor mount. The 72 mounts are taller and have a tab on the one side. This is not the entire problem as others have pointed out the Pan is incorrect, but the mismatch may be contributing to the problem, as the engine does not sit right and will not be aligned properly with the fan shroud and trans mount. This is a common error since Ford changed the mount design in 73 and also made different mounts for convertibles with the same engines sizes. 71-72 Verts and 71 429 big block cars used the same frame mounts, these are different than the frame mounts used in hardtop/fastback small block cars. See the picture below comparing the frame mounts for each year and body style.
The 73 captive motor mounts are not reproduced. So the easiest and cheapest solution is to get a pair of 71-72 hardtop frame mounts. You could try and find a pair of 73 captive motor mounts, but they are hard to find and pricey.
