the more I talk and think about it, the more I think I'm going to pass on it.

I think its going to be a Late model Mustang fest, but I might still do it.

Eric,

I agree with running it first before doing a road trip, that's the last place you want to run into issues.

Since I am on the issue of Charlotte this morning. Thought I would throw it out there to see if anyone is interested in posting their plans to get to the Charlotte gathering.

For myself, it will be to finalize the plans of getting the 72 shipped to Charlotte and figuring out how to coordinate that with my departure. I would like to hook up with the Pony Drive before Nashville and ride along until Asheville. Depending on the shipping arrangements that may or may not be possible. A buddy who I am shipping my car with his is planning to drive straight through on Tuesday ~612 miles. He has a very nice 73 vert and a little more comfy than the 67 I will be in with my Dad. Nonetheless, it will be a great trip there, I just hope the weather cooperates for the entire drive and event.

I just found out yesterday that my painter's not even ready for me yet... so I'm definitely out.

Sucks. I was SO looking forward to meeting a bunch of you guys as well.

Sitting here on a snowy day and thought I would peruse the Mustang 50th Anniversary Celebration website and bump this thread. Here is the link again if anyone is interested in taking a look.

Fair warning: I'm going to cancel my reservations soon. If someone wants to make theirs soon after (to ensure they get the open room) hit me up with a PM before 1 March. After that - I have no idea if they'll keep the opening in the block of rooms we have reserved.

Eric, you might be able to tranfer the resivations to an other person.
Yeah - but I can't seem to get someone interested enough to make that happen.

Eric, I may have a need for an extra room. I will know before March 1. As soon as I know i will drop you a PM. This may work out great for me if this person takes your reservation. I should know in the next week. Can you hold it just for me for 1 week?

You bet! I had hoped to hold out as long as possible, but I know that if I don't pull the plug far enough in advance, I'll be trying to do it the night before and get stuck paying for at least one day of it. ;)

Yeah - just let me know. I just want to make sure one of our own gets the shot at having the room - I'm sure rooms are pretty much already booked for that time period with everything going on... and that's a primo place you scored for us, BK. ::thumb::

Hopefully towing my brothers Boss 302 to Vegas. That's his goal to have it done by then. If not I will be taking my 89 GT.
We plan on making the Vegas 50th next year with our local Mustang club. Although many in our club (the ones with late models) are driving the 1,100 miles we'll be flying. Can't see a 2,200 mile round trip to Vegas in a loud 42 year old car with no air, I like driving the car but not that much. Plus leaving it a Casino/Motel parking lot for 3 nights with drunks coming and going just doesn't sound appealing...so we're flying and going to enjoy checking out all the Mustangs that do show up. Maybe we can meet up with 7173 members who show up.

Jim
Hi Jim I should be in Vegas around noon on Thursday. Looking forward to meeting you and other members.

They're doing an even in Vegas too for those of us on the west coast, that would be pretty cool but I don't really trust my car's AC to handle the CA/NV desert, lol
It wont be that hot. My brother would be driving my old fox body up if his Boss was done.

Thought I would bump this thread as we are getting closer and see who plans to have their 71-73 with them? It would be great to know who will have their 71-73 with them. Maybe, Possibly, we can ask, if the hotel would set aside some spots for us to park the 71-73's together. No promises, but we can ask the question. To do so we will need a hard count of the number that are commiting to be there.

Brian D - 72 will be trailered in and left overnights at the show, 67 will be driven to and from the show.

Next???

Hey guys, I live in Charlotte and plan on attending. I would sure like to stop by the hotel and meet everyone on the 7173 page. I dont post much because I dont have much to offer but I have learned a ton. Is there a time that everyone is getting together at the hotel or at the track? Id be great to put faces with people online. My car is not much to look at but i would love to get together and compare cars and drink a beer. I own a beer store so I can bring plenty O that. Michael Brawleysbeverage.com Feel free to contact me with any questions about charlotte or the surounding areas. Great town!

Bill A - I'm trailering my 73 vert and plan on driving it to and from the show. I'm with a group of other WNY'ers in a M.O.R.E. parking group.

Our local MCA rep noted 3700 registered mustangs for Charlotte. Compared to the 10,000 that showed up for the 40th, I'm surprised at the low number.

Getting back up to speed on about 2 weeks of postings after being on vacation. Brawler great to hear from you and it would be a pleaseure to meet up with you at the hotel. You can look at the hotel posting for the specifics. We have not scheduled anything formally to get together. I think it will just happen??

Bill interesting to hear about the low registration. I wonder if the holiday is having an impact?

We're heading down to Tn. from S.E. Wisc. on the 16th of April. My wife and i will be driving our 04 Supercrew towing our restored Scotty camper, my son and grandson will be following in my 07 Pony, a buddy from work is also following with his son in an 04 GT convert. We'll be staying at our place in Cosby and driving over either Friday the 18th or Sat the 19th, only about 200 miles. Won't have time to get our 73 Mach done, the weather in the north messed that up. Wife and i made it to the 40th in Nashville with our 94 coupe. Can't wait for this one ( NOT A FAN OF THE 2015 !!)

I am not surprised at the low registrations. Two events instead of one. Very late planning - website issues. Almost no advertising outside of MCA magazine and only since January. High cost ($100 vs. $25). I will be going but there may be almost as many Mustangs at Carlisle as at Charlotte.

You know what they say about assume...

We registered for Charlotte Dec. 1, 2013 in the MORE group so our car would be with original owners group.

Have been talking back and forth with Kathy Miller ( in charge of original owners group) about the show,

about what car we were bringing, where we were staying etc.so being that we were communicating with

the person in charge of the original owners 64-73 we figured everything was fine... We did not realize that

we were suppose to get a conformation no.. maybe we should have but they have never done that in the past.

We have Steve Prewitt looking into it so I hope he straightens it out..

We are really looking forward to the show so now we wait....

Cars loaded.... we are ready... just waiting for the good to go!!!!!
