FINALLY got the major undercoating and seam sealer out of the engine compartment. Just know those sealer fellas were pi$$ed filling the gaps on this one coming down the line. Am going to start media blasting it tomorrow. Yeah, that's my knuckle blood in pic 2 by the rocker:dodgy:

Mark, which car is that one?...the 4speed car?

Brett - that actually looks really cool. I did the same thing after I scored a pair from a friend when I had my '82. Except I put them on the front fender (in the usual 'classic' and '5.0' location) and loved the look.

Last weekend, this week, this weekend, and possibly next weekend: taking a break from the Rustang and replacing the rotten, old, 'munched by termites' fence in the back yard.

I've so far gotten one side of the yard completely done (removed 4x4 wooden posts and replaced with 2-3/8" chain link posts with wooden stringers and pickets), and have the driveway side torn down with the new posts set in concrete. About half the posts on the driveway side were rotted off at ground level and required drilling out the left-over wood. Tomorrow is installing hardware, stringers, pickets, building the gate, and fabricating some brackets for the gate's hinges.

Unfortunately, I'm now a day behind (thanks to drilling out the rotted off posts taking so long), so I'll have to postpone the last side until next weekend, so Sunday will be restacking the leftover materials so I can reclaim the driveway for the coming week - it's starting to look like 'hail storm' season, and I'm not going through THAT again (which is why I built the carport).

Did some rust removal on the floorpans and the interior roof. Tomorrow going to clean and rustbullet the roof, and maybe some of the floorpan area.

Now, a question: I know I have to remove the roof support to de-rust under that, but what about the support around the windshield? Should I do the rustbullet-sponge trick? The only way to really get in there would be to completely cut that area out and then weld it back in...and I don't have the $$$ for that at the moment. It looks like it's just some surface rust in there. same with under the passenger seat platform, some surface rust but nothing really huge. Probably drill out the spot welds on the seat platform though and do it right.

Steve the sponge trick should work just fine for the front..Or you can spray it with the home depot husky hlvp gun..Just turn the fluid control all the way in..turn down the pressure & shoot the heck out it till runs from the seams. Pick your poison ::blah::

Cool, thanks Scott! I'll probably do the sponge trick b/c I don't have an air compressor...post pics later!

Experiment with the media blast enclosure went really well. I'm going to enclose the whole car in the garage and do it the way I intended. Nothing eacaped into the garage or the car. Just have to get another 20 X 40 tarp for the flooor.

Painted my door jambs..doors and car, door hinges too. Hoping to get the car painted about Wed. I have been working 7 days a week on this car and I am about ready to see it finished.

Wow, you guys are working hard. Is rust bullet thick? Why not use one of the products thats in a squirt bottle. It gets in to all of the cracks, converts rust and seals it so you do not have to worry in the future. Thats how I did mine but there was only surface.

I'm mulling over my options. I'd prefer to use rust bullet because of all the positive feedback, but because of a lack of an air compressor around here it makes the whole thing more difficult. My biggest concern is actually getting to all the rust. I can't see into most of the areas that I have to apply it so I won't be able to tell if I get it all covered.

I also considered the Eastwood rust converter that's in a spray can (with the hose), but I don't know how well it works. Most of the rust on my car is surface rust and I just don't want it to get worse. Anybody have an opinion on the Eastwood rust converter?

EDIT: I was wrong, it's not the rust converter it's Eastwood's Internal Frame Coating: http://www.eastwood.com/internal-frame-coating-w-spray-nozzle.html. Googled it and it has some pretty good reviews.

Put in the starter, hooked up the new alternator wiring, got to see all of the lights power on for the first time, installed honeycomb and chrome on the tail panel

I went to church today.

Ok, thats now how it sounds. You see, I decided to sand and paint my new ram air system after I got the new bolts, thanks to OMS. So this morning I sanded the snorkle and all of the air cleaner and lid. I cleaned everything with the prepaint cleaner and set everything out to paint. I had 2 cans of Old Ford Blue in 500F ceramic engine paint ready to go. So I painted the snorkle first, then the lid, then the lower side of the base thinking no one can see that so lets do it first.

Everything came out perfect and I was proud of myself. Then it started sprinkling on my new paint job. So I rushed and picked everything up and put in in the garage. Too late of course, all of the parts had rain spots on the side I had just painted. Sooooooo, I went ahead and decided to clean my garage while the parts were drying so I could resand them. Got that done and went back and resanded the parts with 600 grit wet paper. Cleaned and prepped the parts again. Laid them out inside the garage on one of my mobile stands. Painted them on the same sides again and once again I was all proud of myself. I turned to go to the other side of the car and clean one of my rear quarter trim pieces because they are next on my list to install once the headliner is in. I turned to look at my paint job just for that feel good you get when you do a good job and just as I turned I noticed a clump of pine needles and leaves falling off the top of my garage door onto my new paint job.

I decided it was time to go to church.

Painted the inside of the roof with rust bullet and wire wheeled some of the rear window seat. Found some more pinholes that have to be filled in. Read some of the posts on here.

Loaded the Mach 1 on a trailer and took it to the tranny shop. For the second time, the front pump bearing welded to the torque converter. The guy that rebuilt it isn't standing behind it and I decided I wanted someone that knew what they were doing to fix it this time anyway. 2 times in 150 miles is inexcusable. No more friend of friends working on my cars for me.

Steve
