What did you do to your car today?

Took the mach to a car show today, only a few miles from my house. But had to get up at 7 and I didn't get to sleep until 2.

But I got there, and it was a decent show. Though the show had just moved from it's more established location which recently closed, so there were definitely some organizational bugs to work out but it was ok

My dad brought his 59 ducati and had the judging been done by peers instead of a small panel/1 guy I would think the ducati (if not the mach) would have won something being the only bike there and basically being fawned all over by all the bikers that showed up (since the location was in the hills where bikers like to ride on weekend)

but the guy apparently handing out trophies (of which there were none cause they didn't get them shipped in time or something) seemed to like hotrods and stuff over everything else (and there was a decent mix there). So I feel a little upset about having to wake up at 6;30-7AM for that.

But at least the mach and the bike showed great, and got lots of attention (even if not from the judge(s)

I don't have any pictures to share yet but I installed my new master cylinder. My wife is great, even after being in the hospital til 1am this morning she offered to help actuate the brake pedal and give me a hand. Now the brakes are all good to go I was able to really test my mustang out for the first time. I drove about a 2 miles around my neighborhood probably disturbing everyone because that right pedal was hella fun. The coupe held together this long my wife said she wanted to do a burnout (yeah she's wild) anyway I eased the clutch and mashed it, uh oh....the whole rear end goes up in smoke and it was hopping like a 86 caprice in the ghetto. However I held it longer than I should have I figured what the hell if it breaks I'd rather fix it now but she held strong. Looking back I saw two straight black marks...could this be a posi back there. There is no tags on it and seeing the other oddities of this car I think I want to find out.

anyhow after I brought her back home my wife looks at me and says "ya know, it felt like being 17 again with your 65, and all your hard work just paid off in 10 minutes" I just smiled. I really thought this thing would be a slug but its got some great pickup.

tomorrow I'm going to post up a video in my progress thread and show you guys what I have been up to with everything going on. I also got that voltage regulator installed but its still pumping high at 16v then again it could be my meter as the connections are Jerry rigged together. I know this is a long post but thanks for reading, I had a very fun evening, I even got some shouts from a few neighborhood mustangs '05+ style while they were going home.

Good day. Got the brakes bled and have a good pedal, now. Pulled out the lightweight front springs I had put in to drop the nose back in the day and put the originals back in. Got the passenger seat platform out of the donor. The floor pan in the donor looks pretty good underneath, too, so we can probably use it. Tomorrow we'll be putting some new shocks in the front, pulling the exhaust hangers and hood hinges so they can be blasted along with the seat platform later in the week. And, very likely, taking a little spin around the block. Or two.

72 Coupe - troubleshot turn signal issues...one more gremlin to chase.

70 Coupe - Adjusted camber, replaced waterpump, thermostat and thermostat housing. I'll know Monday morning if I put the sealant on properly.

swapped out the coil for a new MSD epoxy piece. i do not know what may have affected the old coil but the new one seemed to have cured the rhythmic pulsing i was getting. i have not taken it out on the highway yet and run it up to 5000, but as far as doing a few loops around town i had crisp throttle response and no ignition hiccups. coils are strange- you can kill one if you leave the key on for a few minutes, or they can die from manifold heat, or from being mounted in the factory position... or they can last 20 years. ha ha But the new one solved some problems i had when i put it away before the hurricanes/floods last fall. good stuff!

Cried when the drivers seat belt button blew out. Now I have to wait for a mail order replacement and the weather is getting NICE.

With a properly placed nail. I was able to assemble the backing plates minus one spring one handed. Good thing my older brother is coming for a visit on Wednesday. After almost 54 years I know he loves to be needed. (Plus I need him to set the chunk!)

Here are a couple shots of my dome and courtesy lights in action... well.. if you could call it that. I'm just so happy SOMETHING works.

I had to turn off the flash, so it made the picture go blurry (crazy, non-auto-focus mode), but here's the dome light:

And the other 'good one' I got of the dash area. The other bulbs on the seat are the tail light harness, which I'm working on now.

Got my brakes done! Good pedal feel now. Got to take it for a good ride around the block twice. Man what a feeling of accomplishment to bring a old car back to life. No issues at all it drove really nice other than i need to fine tune the engine. It's falling on its self when you ease on the throttle but if you push it half way that 4v opens and hold tight! I think it's timing related as i have not even checked the base timing or anything yet. I felt 17 again! Now the car works mechanicaly i can start doing the fun stuff! yay, I am very blessed that things are turning around in my life and i was able to keep her.

Even all my lights, turn signals, brake, backup, side markers...everything! so awesome, no leaks or odd smells, however a few of my spark plugs have a black sooty/carbon buildup. runnning rich possibly?

You will! This is a very budget (as money allows) build up so any accomplishment like this is very exciting for me. Next on the to do list is making adjustments on the engine and then sanding/priming/paint. I will be doing this myself and with time I think will come out decent for a driver. I am thinking white will be easiest for me to shoot and some black accents. I will stay with the blue interior as the rear seats, headliner and trim panels are in good condition. I'm just looking for a drivers side seat and carpet. Going to pull the carpet out soon and clean up the floor pans, seal them with some rust bullet. The pans seem good from underneath but i havent looked under the carpet yet.

drove it 200 miles, still getting a mid throttle ping but just so slightly and i can reproduce it with pedal angle on the throttle... looks like i need to back off 1-2 more degrees initial.

also i need to get my A/C working FINALLY! ARUGH!

Took the chrome trim off the fender lip in prep of getting my new fender cleaned up and fixed so it can go on the car. Also decided that since I had the tools out I would take the passenger side mirror off and get the new one ready for paint and then since it was a nice day I thought I'd finally take that wrong way spoiler off, good thing both of my pedestals for the spoiler were cracked...weight of the spoiler kept the crack from showing.

Managed to get the gas tank installed and then finished cleaning and assembling the blower section for the A/C while I helped our ferrule cat that I've been taming deliver her first litter of kittens. Have 2 beauties born on my garage flanel shirt.

I took some suspicous looking spray foam out of the cowl area to discover that the cowl only had a couple of small rust spots. I think I can fill them in with a welder. I took out the back seats and rear interior panels, which scared a mouse into the head liner. I found what was left of the build sheet. Then I sanded some of the primered areas to see how much body filler I was dealing with, which turns out to be quite a bit. thats what I did today.


I almost forgot, I ordered a passenger side fender apron
