Cool John...And have a great vacation!!...And really cool he putting the strip kit and all on..My freind was having a tuff time finding anyone to put a stripe kit on his mustang gt..he called around and got a few cold shoulders from paint shops on that..lol10/16/13
Update: The painter came by this morning and looked at the car. He pointed out flaws on the body that I didn't notice and is going to fix those. Overall he was satisfied with the work so I'll be taking it to him next Tuesday or Wednesday to start the process. He is going to block sand the body, fix any low spots, then primer and block sand again. After the paint he is also going to cut the polish the finish so it should look pretty good. Then install the striping kit and send it back to me. ETA is last week in November which works for me since I will be on vacation for 3 weeks in Nov.

I believe that they only made 1 yr with the Amarillo badging so you don't see many of them. I got a lot of looks while I was towing the car to the painter last week. Tomorrow morning I am taking a drive down to the shop to take progress pics of the car. I'll post them when I get back.Looking forward to seeing it come out of paint, and also for the updates along the way if you get the chance. You are way ahead of me, but I sure enjoy seeing the process.
Off topic: I love seeing the Amarillo truck pulling the 71-73. I also have an Amarillo and a 71-73. Kind of a rare combination so I thought that was interesting.

Yeah I debated on that too, glad I decided to have them off. I found as I was doing the prep work that the fenders cover parts of the car that is subject to rusting and was originally painted. If the fenders weren't removed those areas would be missed and eventually rust through.I have been internally debating painting with fenders and hatches on or off. I have considerable time though.
So you took them off for prep then installed them for final paint?Yeah I debated on that too, glad I decided to have them off. Yeah, see my post # 166. When I removed the fenders I found rust on the inside parts of the wheel well. It had only been primer'd by the factory so it wasn't protected very well. There are posts before and after #166 that show you the condition. I put everything back together so that I didn't have to carry a lot of parts to the painter. I knew that they would be removed again so I didn't bother to put in the shims and align all the panels to the body lines. They were close but not perfect. So you took them off for prep then installed them for final paint?Yeah I debated on that too, glad I decided to have them off.
