The cover should include vents so there is some air circulation. At least thats what the boat one has. There are cheap covers out there. I ended up spending on a good one to protect as much as possible.

Edit: looking at the cover in your link that looks more of an indoor cover than outdoors. Looks to thin to withstand outdoor winter weather. You want a cover made out of a material like Sunbrella. A good outdoor cover will cost $300 to $400. At least for boats.

last weekend i took out the grungy back panels. They were in worse shape than i thought, sun damage and  scratches.

So i scrubbed them with scotch brite and dawn and sanded most of the dead surface off with DA sander.

i could still scratch the surface with fingernail so i decided to try something to bond the surface and make it a little tougher.

i own my own cabinet shop and have been making cabinets for 40 years now, and have painted lots of cabinetry, i decided to try some vinyl primer that we use on wood to bind the surface a little better and fill some of the craters.

Seemed to work ok. it was a crap shoot but i figured i couldn't hurt anything.

had to put it on pretty thick in places but surface is not nearly as chalky as before.

Sanded the primer and then applied SEM texture coat. Sure wish it came in white.

in the process of painting back to mustang white now.

will post finished pics later

Hey.....I like that. Looks like there may be a way to salvage my white vert side panels! Please provide an update if you can

Finally started the car, two turns and she fired into life.

Advanced the timing a bit and she is purring away.

However, gearbox appears to have a leak , I think from the front seal , which is a shame since I rebuilt it with new seals and stuff.

Also fuel gauge not working and I have a dodgy voltage regulator.

Before and after

i was very happy with the results. the texture came out well. not exactly like original texture but good enough for who it's for.

The new finish is also harder than i expected after sanding the old dirty, chalky crap off and using my primer to bond the surface and the SEM texture coating then the dye paint over that.. At least i can't scratch it off with my fingernails like before.

the bucket seat back panels turned out the same way. So now i need to get started with the new upholstery.

Dropped the 351C off at the machine shop for it's rebuild. We were loading the block into the truck and I noticed the condition of the #1 cam bearing.  :wrench:

Had to pull the car out to get the engine stand to the door. I thought the blue was a nice contrast to the frozen tundra we have at the moment.

 Yep, that bearing's toast!

Very nice picture there by the way. Maybe submit for next years calendar?

Geoff.

I got my shifter boot bolted down.

I wonder how the bearing got like that!?

Fabricated speaker adapters so I could fit modern JBL speakers in the door without having to drill or cut the door any.

Gorgeous!  I had to do the same with the few interior pieces I could salvage.  The SEM products are top shelf, and did an awesome job making my tired old interior look new again.

Congrats on a job well done!   ::thumb::

Not on the car per se but for it. Got garage ceiling raised and insulated in the last 1-2 wks. Need to drywall it now.

What size are those speakers?

Those are the 4x6.  Specifically I used the JBL Club 6420 speakers.

Massive Job today, fitted two rubber grommets to the end of the sun visor arms purchased from NPD.  Perfect fit, Now when you put the brakes on the sunvisors do not fall out of the central clip.  ::thumb:: ::thumb::

Other Jobs done this week, removed passenger door glass and rear quarter glass, washed out crud inside of passenger door and checked for any rust holes.  Pleased to say all is good on the door but there is some surface rust.  Dried out inside the door with the wife's hair dryer.  I have ordered some rust converter and will then prime over the water based rust converter using some zinc based primer.

I have new beltline weatherstrip but am annoyed to find there are TWO outer weatherstrips on the door, One upper one and One lower one.

I have now ordered the lower weatherstrip, but being in the UK I now have to wait several weeks for the part to arrive from the USA!  This  means I cant put back the door window or reassemble the door panel and parts :(

I also needed replacement Door Armrest clip.  I found the part advertised for a 71-73 Mustang in the NPD catalog, well Yesterday I tried to fit the clip and found out its Not the correct clip for my car!

So if anyone is thinking of ordering part number 24144-4AK from NPD.......Dont Bother!  So that was $5.00 wasted  :(

I have since found out the Correct part listed by Mac's /  Ecklers is Ford Mustang Arm Rest Clip 44-39264-2

I did also replace the vertical quarter window vertical window seal the partI ordered was from NPD 30146-4A

and I'm please to say it fitted ok with the help of lube from a can of WD40.  ::thumb::
