I surprised myself by quite successfully fixing some major curb rash on one of my 124 Spiders rims. It's easier than I thought! Nevertheless I'm still proud of myself. ;)

Nothing car related today......but almost as fun. Got out a few of my favorite guns and did some target shooting. The Winchester is a nickel plated receiver model 94, the Apache black Remington 66 made in 1960 and the Mohawk brown 66 made 1968. I don’t hunt anymore but still love target shooting.

My Mom's been in and out of the hospital since 22 Sep for Parkinson's and old-age related degradation.  She's currently in a rehab center looking to move to the other end of the building to the permanent 'nursing home' wing.  Every weekend since has been all about getting her stuff squared away (bank account, bills, insurance, and literal things in her apartment).

Sucks getting old.

Loving gun posts....

Well I was walking down to shop to do some more block sanding. I heard neighbor trying to split some white oak. I walked over and all they had was and axe and sledge hammer they were driving the axe in like a wedge. I told them to come to shop and they hooked up my log splitter. Had the whole tree split in less than an hour Since I cannot lift I just ran the splitter.
So we all had cold drinks and pizza and I went back to shop and got the weed eater out and ran a tank of fuel out and quit for the day.
This surgery has me getting so far behind.

Went to Lebanon Valley Dragway on Sunday with a good friend to run test n tune. They had a rain out Saturday, so everything got pushed into Sunday. Had a small tire/big tire Street Outlaws event, a no drama $150 bracket event and the TnT. Weather was great, but racing was a total $hit show. They would call TnT to the lanes, run two lanes and then call the other classes and we'd sit there for hours while the "pros" were wrecking, blowing up and causing delay after delay.  One driver went out in an ambulance after he hit the wall, at least one other ended up in the wall too, every couple cars they had to stop to do track clean up. Lots of people were not happy.

Regardless, my buddy ran his best ET ever with a 10.74 / 122mph in his 70 Road runner. He's running a 400 stroked to 512ci. Car is very well sorted, just hooks and goes. Cell phone video, def not a pro.

I started cutting downed limbs and trees from a major ice storm.  I used to love trees, not so much now. Chuck

Over the weekend I took a 2 day course on tuning Holley EFI systems. Was really interesting seeing some of the things you can do with them. And even though it was a GM, on day 2 the guy running the course walked us all through tuning an old Malibu with a Junkyard LS and ebay turbos. Dam thing made 850hp and 990ft lbs at the rear wheels spinning on the dyno by the end of the day. But it was awesome learning about all the cool things possible, and a bit more on the steps while tuning.

Finally got a chance to finish up my wife's new computer.  Back in June, she mentioned that Blizzard would be releasing a new expansion pack for World of Warcraft, and that her machine might not be able to run it very well without struggling, so I pretty much blew her stimulus check on a new machine (some assembly required, of course).

I decided to make it WoW-themed and hopefully, a little over the top. Fractal Design makes awesome computer cases, and I’m hoping they’ll like it enough for their case mod gallery when I’m done.

Here’s the gear:

Fractal Design Focus mid-tower case
ASUS TUF B450-Plus AM4
AMD RYZEN 7 2700 8-core CPU
G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GBx2
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Crucial MX500 1B SATA III SSD
Thermaltake Toughpower GX1 500W power supply
Lite-On Super AllWrite 24X SATA DVD+/-RW
Rosewill RDCR-11004 Data Hub

Started off with this: Fractal Design Focus G mid-tower case, $55 from Newegg.com

I wanted it to look like a piece of hammered metal distressed over time (like most Horde things are - never anything 'new' looking).  Went with some Rustoleum Hammered Metal Pewter as the base coat:

There was a high-end WoW-themed case I found with a cool map mural wrap, and decided to incorporate that into the look:  Here's my version of that to start with... it gets crazy from here:

Here's the box stuffed with the gear (before the paint), up and running. I loaded up Win10 and World of Warcraft, then punched up all of the game resolution settings to max... and none of the fans even spun up from idle for increased cooling... unlike her current machine that sounds like a wind-tunnel when she's playing.

I went a little nuts with the distressing and rust effect - almost like I had a flashback to my Mach 1 after I first got it - LOL!  Here's the mural panel with a cool Horde shield a buddy of mine 3D-printed.

IMG_0742.jpg

This is the window side.  It was a little bland, so I hit it with the Dremel for some cool etching.  With all the red lights inside, it takes on a cool red glow.

IMG_0743.jpg

I stuck a nice 3D Printed Horde symbol on the front, which is backlit by 2 red LED fans.

IMG_0744.jpg

Can't really see all the lighting effects since my el cheapo Harbor Freight LED lights are so bright (best $50 I ever spent there, BTW).

So, I put my thumb over the flash on my camera, and this is what we get (looks like I need a better camera):

IMG_0749.jpg

A nice top-down shot, which has more distressed metal than rust... which is really what I was going for, but she likes it because of all the red (rust red, but red).

Last shot, 3 quarter of the front and map mural panel.  I like it, had fun building it, and the thing's an absolute beast running the game.

Now, I gotta get back to vacating my Mom's apartment, since she'd now stuck in a nursing home.

Today while at Northern Tool I saw this "palm" ratchet. Man, I wish I would have known these existed. Sometimes when tightening bolts in a tight space this would be very handy. At least to turn the bolt most of the way in and then you can scramble a standard ratchet with swivel extensions to finish tightening.

Unfortunately for NT, I did not buy it at the store because the fools didn't want to manually scan the gift card I had. So I am looking at this one in Amazon:

Got it a little more done on basement. It’s all framed up. Stairs are built. Drywall is hung. Now I got my buddy coming to do the finish work on my drywall. Can’t wait till that’s done!!! Then onto laminate floor, doors and trim! Also have banister to build. But it’s getting closer.

I forgot to post up some pics of the finished basement. I just got the banister finished today. It came out pretty good.

Is that really a word?   No Ice    you out'a ice?

Sold some parts today. Low and behold the fella showed up in this. He tossed me the keys and said........drive it :)

This car has 69k original miles and basically every option offered all the way down to the map light. What I feel was really neat, as a boy 40 years ago he rode in this car at 5 years old with his dad. Car has never left the family since new.
