Obsidian71 you never cease to amaze!

Did you have any rust in the weatherstripping rails for the trunk? I've got some really bad cancer rot in this location and I'm not sure of the best way to repair it. Was wondering if you might have some suggestions.

Fortunately this was a very rust free car to start with. It was extremely clean around the trunk weatherstrip channel. My best suggestion is to section in whatever needs to be replaced with pieces from a donor car. Check with Ohio Mustang Supply or Motorcity Mustang (both on this site) to see what they've got.

Thanks!

All taped up, gonna go over the whole thing now with phosphoric prep & etch and prime it tomorrow night.

Here's a nice example of how clean and rust free the phosphoric acid gets the metal. Here's my roof half done:

Are you doing all this work in your garage or do you have a proper "shop"?
I'm doing it all in my humble 12x26 garage. It gets pretty tight sometimes, but it forces me to stay pretty neat. A bigger garage just means more room for crap :p

So I was out in the garage till just about 2am and I got the whole shell completely prepped with the phosphoric prep & etch, tonight it's a coat of etch primer and 3-4 coats of surfacer :D

Man, you got some real talent! Respect. My '73 build will be nothing like yours so keep up the great work.

Tonight I finally put it down on all 4's :) I had one last mock up item on the list in order to do it...rear coil overs. A while back I had picked up these handy coil over mock up tools from speedway motors http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Coil-Over-Shock-Mock-up-Tool,57416.html

and tonight I finally put them to use. They were only $60 bucks vs. a few hundred for the real deal. Plus I'm still torn on weather to go air ride or not???There is still some reinforcing to do at the frame rail mounting point, but I don't want to get too crazy until I have the actual coil overs and can take precise measurements. For now they're just drilled through and set up at approx. what I think will be ride height. They actually recommend using roll bar padding to simulate the size of the spring when mocking up, which I thought was pretty slick and worked out really well.
