Loved the build video. Especially the plug for the site at the end. ;)

Great looking car. We have similar drive train setups. I need to get a higher speed stall and am contemplating going from 3.5 to 3.73 now that I have the GV.

Thx will e, yeah the 3.89 gears that I have really make it quick. You will like the 3.73 gears.

Today I got the cooler mounted and electrically wired. The transmission cooler lines are 5/16 in so I had to order 2 new AN fittings. Alls that left to do is to hook up the oil lines and this new mod will be done. I am really satisfied how this fit behind the grille.

thx

Got another item off my checklist today. Took the car to the state patrol for its inspection and got the paperwork to get the license tags. Funny thing was that he didn't know why I had to do this inspection. He did ask me when the car was stolen and where so it surprised me that this car has a record in the vehicle database. It was stolen in 1981 so I guess it was his way of telling I was the owner.

On the way home I got it on the freeway and up to 70mph. At that speed it was turning 2700rpm and running very smoothly though I am not used to a motor running that high of an rpm on the freeway anymore.

I did get the fittings to hook up the tranny oil cooler so tomorrow I'll be hooking up the oil lines. After that it's on to try getting Ram air installed.

thx

Happy to hear your at the stage where your enjoying the fruits of your labour. Great looking ride. What is the name of that white paint job?

It's paint code 9A, Wimbledon White. It's sort of an off white. This was the original color for the car.

I like the idea of an original colour for the car. Would it be the same Wimbledon white Shelby used on the 68 gt500 or is the same in name but a different shade of white like 70 grabber blue and 2010 grabber blue. Very different.

I like off white. My 63 Galaxie is Corinthian White and it's a creamier off white as well.

Shelby paint code was "M" while Ford is "9A". When I crossed the two paint codes they pointed to the same white paint. It is probably the same but I am only guessing here.

Great news John. I'm glad you got it done. Now you will pay $125.00

to the state for the inspection fee. It took the the state patolman in

Moses about 3 min. to inspect my trailer a few months ago. A good profit for the state, but all worth it. Wade

Thx Wade,

He did not even inspect it. He just asked a bunch of questions about the restoration. He said he was impressed by the way it sounded when I drove it into the stall. Like I mentioned he wasn't even sure why I needed to bring it in. He didn't mention anything about a fee, guess I'll see if they bill me.

That's great that you got it on the road. You'll get used to the higher RPM's. Turn off the OD at 65 sometime and run it for a mile or two. You will be amazed at the difference when you put it back into OD.

If the weather holds out I'll try running it on Sunday, I also have the shift kit installed and I can tell it when it shifts, its a reall solid shift in each gear. It's going to be fun playing around with the GV.

I got the tranny oil cooler plumbed up this evening too and ran it in the garage and no leaks so far. It will be interesting to see how well it cools the fluid.

Still working on the final touches. Got a 4 wheel alignment done today and surprisely it was all good with the exception of the Toe alignment. When I removed the steering linkage I took it apart as a single piece and used it as the template for putting the new pieces together. For the camber I marked the original positions with a scribe and set them as a baseline when I replaced the arms. I guess it worked well as when I was at 70 mph before the alignment it tracked really well.

Started with the Ram Air design and got all the measurements taken. There are 3 issues that I am working on:

1. The MSD distributor sits too high so it hits the front of the air cleaner base. The fix is to modify the filter base to get the additional clearance. Initial measurements indicate this can be done.

2. I have a Blue Thunder intake manifold and many comments indicate that ithe carb base sits too high so I'll have hood clearance issues. The fix, from the top of the filter base to the fender I got 1 1/2 inches. Jim (Jim & Jutta) took a measrement and got 2 inches with the rubber seal so I am thinking that this won't be an issue,

3. I have Blue Thunder valve covers and they are taller and the air horn hits the oil fill caps. The fix - right now I have an paper filter for the valve cover. I am going to plumb a rubber tube from the valve cover to under the air horn. This way any oil fumes should be sucked into the throttle body and burned.

I will attach pics of the cuts that I make to the air cleaner when I start the mods. If this all works out it will give the car a more stock looking appearance. More to come soon.

Whouahhhhhhhh!!! I start this thread today, I'm on the page 22, will continue to read at home this evening. It's a lot of work, looks like you are very meticulous, bravo :)

Epic thread. I am just back from Holiday R&R home in the State's to far South Korea where I work jet lagged as can be. Did the whole thread over a few martini's and, well, just flawless. The honesty vs. perfection of it all was spot on. Well done Sir.

Received my new seat belts for the front seats from Don (OMS) that are the combined shoulder and lap belt. Too spoiled now with these in the newer cars today and it was a pain to fumble with the 2 piece ones that originally came with the car. I will be installing them this weekend and will post my impressions with them when I am done.

Also still working on my Ram Air conversion. I am modifying the base right now to clear the MSD Dizzy similar to what 71Mach1lady did however my dizzy is slightly taller so I need to modify it a little more. I have acquired all the parts now and hopefully I'll have it done in a couple of weeks. I'll post pics of the mods when I am done. I am using a taller intake right now and in the end it may not work but I thought I would give it a shot anyway. More to come soon.
